The Roseau 10UA/10UB teams hosted the Roseau 10UA/10UB tournament the weekend of Jan.31-Feb.2. Sixteen teams from across Minnesota, North Dakota, and Manitoba made their way to Roseau with the hopes of taking home some hardware. The Roseau 10UA came out flying Friday morning against a big Minneapolis Storm team and ended up getting the 2-0 win with goals from Ella Ketring and Maryn Byfuglien, with Bryjah Schnipkoweit standing tall and getting the shutout in net. The 10UA pulled off another win in a game against a quick Alexandria team later on in the day with the score ending up 8-4. Goals came from Ella Ketring (2), Tatum Preteau (2), Launa Ullman (2), Clara Baumgartner, and Madelyn Magnusson. Saturday morning the girls played a strong Fargo Freeze team and would advance to the championship game with a win. The girls came out flat and were given their first loss of the weekend, losing 8-2 with Ella Ketring and Clara Baumgartner each scoring in this one. On Sunday the Roseau 10UA played for third place in the tournament. The girls were not happy with the loss the night before and out hustled West Fargo for an 8-1 win with goals from Maryn Byfuglien (3), Brooke Broten (2), Launa Ullman, Ella Ketring, and Tatum Preteau. Bemidji took on Fargo for the championship with Bemidji taking home the coveted 10UA hardware.

On the B side of the tournament- Roseau picked up right where they left off last weekend with a quick 2-0 lead over Grand Forks, on goals by Natalie Kline and Abby Simmons.  The girls got a little too comfortable with their lead allowing 4 unanswered in the second half of the first period, and couldn’t mount a comeback against the eventual runner ups in a 6-2 loss.  Saturday morning saw the girls lose a tough one to Alexandria 6-1, Eva Novacek getting the lone goal on a shot from the point.  They followed up with improved play, but poorer puck luck in a 7-1 loss to Fargo, Martine Reese getting her tally late in the third after a strong forecheck by Simmons and Britta Bunke. Sunday morning saw the girls go down 3-0’in the first period against West Fargo.  After a scoreless second, the girls pulled off some last minute heroics, include Eliana Mast diving back to an open net on an aborted goalie pull, and Natalie Kline scoring a hat trick in the third to tie the game with 11 seconds left. Roseau would ultimately go on to lose the shootout 2-0, but at least have something to build on for next weekend.  Minnetonka claimed the the championship with a 6-5 win over Grand Forks
